Week 9 Picks

"Tall trees hangin' over the road
Feels like... they're starin' me doooowwwwn."
Matt Mays - Tall Trees

Since it's Super Bowl week, I thought using football analogies and offerring prop bets would be fun. For the record, I'm picking Arizona by 3....cause I love underdogs!

Threezerburn vs. Children of the Corn

While the Threezers punt for field position, the kiddies will be looking to find the endzone as often as Larry Fitzgerald does for Arizona. Rather than Hail Merry passes, it’s hard to imagine how Threezerburn, with only one solid handler / quarterback, will be able to keep up with the potent offense of the kiddies. An interesting heads-up match-up will be how the Jack Daniels loving junior on Corn handles the layout loving Chow on Threezers. Count on Pistol Pete to sling accurate passes like his idol: Ben Roethlisberger (pre-motor-cycle injury) in leading his squad to victory.
Prop bet: Over/Under 0.5 – Foods that El Diabolo Mackalacka won’t eat on the A&L’s menu.

Army of Darkness vs. Hammers

Little known fact: the Hammers are IID team #7. Since seven corresponds to a converted touchdown, the Hammers will obviously have no problem scoring enough points to pull out a victory during Super Bowl week. Admittedly, I was pumped when Mama Fish reminded me that we’d be playing RPAlex’s Army this week. Giddy-up quickly informed me how much better young RP had gotten practicing with the Open program, and playing for the Gee-Gees. Sadly, Mr. Two-Pointer explained this weekend that the manchild they call Bush is currently nursing a bad ankle. Since Mr. Bush and ChowareyouSTILLonlya4inLeagueWonder are the two guys who provide the most challenging match-ups for me in the league this year, I only hope his ankle recovers. Can the Hammers win their last game without all-pro DGo? My bookie says 'yes'.
Prop bet: Over/Under 4.5: Number of Downtown Dave Brown hucks caught by Ms. Bush for points.

Grey vs. Ocho

With the Bill Bellicheck of IID, coach Ginnandjuice leading Grey, they'll be able to keep it close against Ocho. However, Ocho's potent offense looks like it's run by a Manning! My guess is that Ocho's coach has advised his team of how to rayn down points on the opposition. Although I think Grey will keep the final score within a field goal, it's hard to bet against a team who's name corresponds to a touchdown with a two-point conversion. It'll be fun to see who on Ocho will step up defensively and shut down the patent quarterback/receiver combination of Kennifer Langandtall and Golentement.
Prop bet: Over/Under 2.5: Number of times Golentement gets taunted from the sideline before a purple-loving player from the previous game leaves.

2 x 12s vs. 4 Girls 1 Cup

Salmon has his squad playing inspired ulty. It must be the Tom Landry-like hat and cane he used in his 70s pimp costume at Flights that has his team so motivated to step-up their game, or risk being slapped! On the other hand, 4 Girls 1 Cup looks to be waiting for the Almighty Mahatma to send them some talent via an expansion draft. Actually, time to be honest...it seems to be one player that's holding 4 Girls 1 Cup back. This individual, who will remain nameless, reminds me a bit of TO. Ultimate isn't about superstar players, it's about team chemistry. Until 4 Girls 1 Cup find a way to turn their TO into a team player, they'll keep losing games. My bet is that transformations can't take place in a night...even with Mighty Mushy facilitating the change.
Prop-bet: Over/Under 0.5: Number of scoring celebrations performed by Hello Jessie after catching one of her many points.

Predicted Quote of the Night:
From 4 Girls 1 Cup team-mate to "TO": "Will you stop hucking it already!?!?"

Hope everyone has a great game Wednesday, and enjoys the Super Bowl on Sunday. Until next time, happy hucking!
